Hi folks,

Does anyone have the two pictures from that article that they can send to me? When I read the article the pictures don't work for me.

Thanks in advance,

John :)

I bin trying to look at that too lol!

What you do tho is use your thumb to pull open the trap then flick the saflety cap on, then then get the spring sorted and tap the spring not too hard but just so if anything even touches it irt will go! But watch yuor friggen hands mate lol

Here's a live Link to the 'article', such as it is. (Appears to have been written by a kiwi?)

The pictures are gone. But they'd only be showing ye a Fenn trap in the set position, with little arrows and letters. If ye don't know what the component parts of a Fenn are, should ye really be playing with one in the first place?

Second shot would be of a Fenn stuck in a hole in the ground. Personally, I've never felt it necessary to sink mine into the ground when trapping mustalids. Nor rats, for that matter. Rabbits may well be a differant matter? Never gone after those with a Fenn, myself.

I do bury Fenn's on occassion. But in a tunnel, for musti's or rats? Nah.

Nightrunner; It often occurs to me that, to be a Fur Trapper in US, one must first become an accomplished Welder, mate! :D I'd be lost over there as I haven't got a clue about Welding!

WELL HERE GOES AN EXPLANATION VERY EASY TO SET THESE TRAPS TAKE HOLD OF THE RING PULL ON THE JAW OF THE TRAP WITH YOUR THUMB USE YOUR OTHER THUMB TO PUSH THE JAWS APART ONCE THE JAWS ARE FULLY OPEN FLICK THE SAFTEY HOOK OVER THE JAW THIS WILL STOP THE TRAP FROM CLOSING AND REMBER TO DO THIS EVERY TIME YOU SET THE TRAP LIFT THE TREADLE PLATE UP UNTIL THE BRASS DOG LOCKS INTO THE SLOT ON THE TREADLE. SITE YOUR TRAP IN THE LOCATION SET YOUR TREADLE FOR THE TENSION YOU REQUIRE AND THEN REMOVE THE SAFTEY LAST OF ALL,

YOU SHOULD LOCATE YOUR TRAP IN SOME HOLE OR ARTIFICIAL TUNNEL

HERE IS A FEW THAT DIDN,T GET AWAY

ALLWAYS WEAR GLOVES WHEN HANDLING DEAD RATS OR SETTING IN PLACES WHERE RATS ARE ACTIVE BECAUSE OF THE HIGH RISK OF DISEASES

You know what they say about assumptions Ditch :tongue2: What I did say was I was curious as to what the pics were, that's all.

Woodga, great results on the rats there :thumbs-up:

 John; Where did I indicate I was addressing you directly, mate? Assumptions indeed! I was just thinking out loud, mate. Much as I threw in the comments about burying or not.

In PM I'm talking straight at an individual. On here I try to speak to 'The House' ;)

So saying; Woodga: Your pictures just aren't unfolding for me right now mate  I'm gagging to have a look as I just never tire of seeing traps :D I'm in a bit of a rush right now but I'll look later. Probably work then.

Spot on about the gloves too. I use the newer Nitrile ones. Bloody good too, they are. " Touch & Tough ". Handy little stand by, for emergencies, is that - as a Dog keeper - I Always have a butchers bag stuffed into each back pocket. For mine sweeping duties ;) But I'd Never handle a rat with bare hands. Did that before and well and truly paid the price :icon_eek:

Nice bag of the little tinkers there :victory: The pics really help clarify techniques on trapping and will really help people trying this for the first time (or wanting to learn how to do things properly ;) ) You only get complacent with those fenns once and the bitch will have you  and that'll stop you wanking for a couple of weeks

Also what i tend to do is leave them in a bucket of water or a puddle outside fri a few night so thell go rusty and squirrels and other quarry wont be scared of the shiny material, Or just cover it in leaves while in the tunnel.
